PINnacle Wrestling looking to improve upon last years finish at the Virginia Holiday Duals.

PINnacle Wrestling School will be taking on the country in the toughest youth dual meet tournament in the nation, the Virginia Holiday Duals. The Holiday Duals have become a destination for the best youth wrestlers in the country, some on state teams, many on national teams, and a couple club teams. Wrestling will be live on Flo Friday the 9th-12th. Check this story for updates, and wrestling times.

Previous Trips to the Virginia Holiday Duals:

2010- Current NCAA D1 commits; Pat McKee(Gophers), Brady Berge(Penn St.), Christian Bahl(Okie St.), Rylee Molitor(SDSU), Tyler Shilson(Wisconsin),Brandon Moen(Eastern Michigan), and Hunter Marko(Gophers, wrestled Middle School) led this group to a 5th place finish in our first trip to the Holiday Duals. Moen, Berge, and Bahl were all undefeated. The team finished in 5th place overall with a memorable match against the PA team where it came down to the last match.

2015 - The Holiday Duals had expanded to 48 teams, from the 32 they had in 2010. To advance to the top pool(Gold pool) we had to compete against the defending silver medalist, and we came out on top.  PINnacle won it's pool and advanced to compete in the ultra competitive Gold pool where all teams had kids from all over the country. Our guys battled hard to an 8th place finish. Bennett Berge and Kole Marko were both 9-1, and Parker Janssen and Zyan Hall were 7-3 to lead the 2015 PINnacle Virginia Holiday Duals team.

Preview of the 2016 Virginia Holiday Duals Team

45lbs - Maxwell Flen- "Pickles"is a former MN State finalist from Lakeville North looking to make some noise out in Virginia.

50lbs- Liam Collins- A USAW freestyle and greco national runner-up last year, Liam is a high flying wrestler out of Prior Lake that isn't afraid to throw the kitchen sink at you!

55lb - Brandon Morvari- Brandon, Richfield, is one of the returning wrestlers from last year. His expectations are high in this second year, and we expect him to be a leader in team points. Brandon,a former Tulsa National finalist, works his ties, he will dominate most of the competition.

60lbs - Tyson Charmoli- This quiet kid is a monster on the mat with quick offense, and good in all positions. Tyson, from St.Francis, won USAW Folkstyle Nationals last year, and just recently won Hawkeye Nationals. His Sock game is also strong

64lb - Koy Buesgens - Sometimes called Smilin' Koy by his coaches, this New Prague wrestler doesn't mess around. Koy is extremely hard to score on, strong, and technical. Koy won the USAW Folkstyle nationals last year and we look for him to open up his offense to show his true potential.

68lb - Tyler Wells - For the 3rd weight in a row, PINnacle throws out a USAW 2015 Folkstyle National Champion. Similar to Tyson, Tyler,Princeton, has quick offense, and is good in all 3 positions.

72lb - Cash Raymond- "Money" is his name, dangerous is his game.  Beware of this Cannon Falls wrestler who is a former Tulsa and USAW Folk national placer.

76lb - Parker Janssen- This long and strong competitor, from STMA, is our top returner from last year where he went 7-3 and won some huge bouts.  He will look to improve upon his performance from last year by being more aggressive in all positions.

80lb - Zach Hanson - This Lakeville North wrestler will not only be a leader on the mat, but also lead the team in song and dance.  Zach wins with his superior position, which shows in his back to back USAW Greco national titles. Zach's season turned around last year after having a rough Holiday Duals, expect a change this year.

85lb - Travis Smith - Don't expect your average match when Travis is wrestling. Crazy Trav doesn't like to take the traditional way to score points. Travis, STMA, had a great year last year in placing at Tulsa and USAW Folk nationals.

90lb - Joey Novak- This New Prague wrestler is a competitor. When he steps on the mat, he is there to fight to the end. Joey has had a great preseason with wins at TrackWrestling nationals, and USAW Preseason nationals.

95lb - Calvin Lonnquist - Cal has the unique ability to wrestle low and high that shows resemblence to coach Deitchler. He has great leg attacks, but can also throw with the best of them. Calvin, Wayzata, is a former USAW Folkstyle National Champion, and finalist in both the Freestyle and Greco division

100lb - Cole Han-Lindemyer - This wrestler from Farmington, is an athlete for his size, and starting to come in to his own. The duals will be a great step in his development as we expect big things in his future.

105lb - Jed Wester - The freight train is coming, stay in the way at your own risk. This happy kid from ANML is strong, fast, and confident coming off a 3rd place finish at Hawkeye Nationals.

110lb - Dylan Henrikson- Another wrestler from Farmington, Dylan has great technique, and will give everything he has. He doesn't have a mustache like many 6th graders at the VAC Holiday Duals, but will be great with maturity

140lb - Joseph Forsberg - Our only guest on the team, but we are ecstatic that he is on our team. Joseph is a beast from the southern MN town of Fairmont. He is a previous MYSA Gopher and Hawkeye National Champion

PINnacle will be led by coach Jared Lawrence this year. We look forward to a great tournament, and our guys to Love The Fight!
