Favorite Wrestling moment - Winning the NCAA's
This was one of those moments where it makes sense. It wasn't one of those moments where you try to do a back flip. The moment was very quick but a moment where I could reflect as if I could see all my training happen in about 3 seconds as I said to myself, "You did it".
Favorite Coaching moment- Every chance a wrestler gets to really throw it on the line and is happy to do so is a coaching memory for me. One in particular was Junior Nationals 2016 where we had 3 champs in Junior Freestyle and the all won by technical fall. Parriott, Allar, Webster went 152, 160, 182. Because they were pretty much back to back to back it was so fast and I remember looking over at Paulson after Owen Webster just teched his guy and we just smiled ear to ear and the gave a double high 5.
Favorite position - Feet - I love the neutral position. Being able to score from anywhere. You have their leg, you can score. They have your leg, you can score. You have your tie-up, you can score. They have their tie-up, you can score. Though I am finding some new love for the top position.
Vacation Spot - Swan Lake, MT
Every year my family heads here for a week. It is right outside Kalispell, MT on the west side of the state. Mountains are tall and the lake is clear. Being on a boat on that lake is my favorite.
My first job was Lawrence Logging. Back in Sandpoint, ID I grew up on 40 acres in the mountains. Each day in the summer my dad would get up early before work and fall cedar trees. My brother and I would grab chainsaws and axes and hop on the CAT. We would limp the branches and skid the trees up the road and stack them in a pile. A guy would come from the cedar mill down the street and measure them. The ones that were big enough for telephone poles he would buy and the ones that didn't meet the criteria my brother and I would chainsaw up for fire wood. My parents still use only wood to heat their house to this day.
I grew up in Sandpoint, ID which is a small town in North Idaho. The town sits on Lake Pend Oreille. The lake is 43 miles long and 1,150 Feet deep. (fifth deepest in the nation)

Favorite Wrestling Highlight- Winning the Big Ten tournament in Carver Hawkeye Arena as a freshman. Growing up in Iowa and coming to the University of Minnesota was a huge deal and the people of Iowa didn't really like me after I went to Minnesota. So to go into Carver Hawkeye Arena and get a fall (body lock)in the finals as a freshman was a pretty incredible feeling. This is followed closely by the fact that I am the only person in the history of the Big Ten to get 1st as a freshman, 2nd as a sophomore, 3rd as a junior and 4th as a senior!
Favorite Coaching Highlight - After graduating from the University of Minnesota I stuck around as a grad assistant for a couple years. I was two years older than Jayson Ness and he was my main training partner for my final two years of college. Then after I graduated he moved up to 133 for his final two years. He made the NCAA finals as a senior. When you make the NCAA finals you weigh in at 10:00 AM and won't wrestle until 7-10 PM that night so there is a lot of waiting around. To kill some time the two of us went and grabbed lunch during the day. We sat there and just talked about the opportunity he had in front of him and everything that goes with wrestling on our biggest stage. Then, later that night he finished off one of the most incredible come backs in finals history taking Dan Dennis down to his back with less than 10 seconds left to win. Going through that whole experience confirmed for me that I wanted to coach.
Favorite Position - Top, preferably with a cradle locked up!
Favorite vacation spot - Hawaii. My wife and I went there this past January and now I'm trying to find a way back!
What else do we want to know about Mack? I love to golf. Like, could golf every day of my life, love to golf. This January my wife, brother Eddie and sister-in-law Megan are going out to Bandon, Oregon to play the 4 courses at Bandon. I couldn't be more excited!

Favorite Wrestling Highlight:
Winning my first high school state title.
In 8th grade I did not believe I had the ability to be a state champ. The guy that won the tournament that year I had beaten 3 times that year. He won, I took 5th. I realized for the first time I could win. The next year I won the tournament and found out how mental this sport really is. I didn’t change that much physically but mentally I grew.
Favorite Coaching Highlight:
Joining Pinnacle this last year has changed my outlook on the sport and developed a new found love for the sport. I can’t pick just one but working with kids and young adults who are pursuing their goals and ultimately trying to be the best wrestler they can be.
Favorite Position:
In 7th grade I tore my meniscus in my right knee right before my 7th grade summer. I switched my stance and went to a lefty high crotch. That summer I won a cadet Fargo national championship. If I get to my opponents left leg I think I can score!
Vacation spot:
Anywhere on a beach! If I’m on vacation I want to be sprawled out in the sun.
Something they don’t know about me:
I love any sport that requires hand eye coordination, I also love to play the guitar and sing.
