About 6 years ago we saw a next generation of PINnacle superstars. At that time, they were still in Elementary school. Our #nextgen is now all grown up.
I still remember the heart Bennett Berge showed in his semifinal win at Tulsa Nationals in 2010 in the 6U Division. Now he is a senior and making wrestling look easy. A lot of work goes into making wrestling look easy winning his 5th title. Bennett's partner growing up was often Kole Marko, who won his 4th title in WI. Both wrestlers grew up looking up to a couple of our 1st generation of wrestlers, brothers Brady Berge and Hunter Marko. They are not in their brother's shadow any longer.
It is not possible that Charli Raymond is wrestling in High School. Char has been around the room, and ready to practice, since she was born. It is fitting that she is Minnesota's first High School State Girls Champion! Don't let Charlie fool you, she is a competitor, and a great athlete, just ask the 6 High School boys she pegged off to win the last dodgeball game of the folkstyle season!
Jore Volk has been a leader in the room the past 3 years. We missed him this fall as he recovered from surgery, but he was back to his old ways averaging 22 points in his first 3 matches. I'm just glad he didn't score that in the finals.
Hunter Lyden has been plagued with injuries the past couple of years, and he seems to be even better than before.
Ryder Rogotzke has been pinning people since age 5, things haven't changed as he sets the pin record for the state of MN
Aspen Blasko, Audrey Rogotzke, and Ella Pagel become PINnacle's 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Girls State Champions!
Anoka still has Greco in the water as I watched 3 wrestlers in 20 minutes get big throws in the blood round and semifinals.
So proud of Brandt Bombard as he advanced to the state finals. He has put a lot of time in, always worked hard, and was very coachable. He will continue to make gains wrestling in College(he is still open fyi).
10/19 Boys Champions were Juniors. They have some work ahead of them, but they could be our best class yet.
Heart breaks for Brendan Howes as he was injured during the Team competition and unable to wrestle at individuals. He did everything in his power to be the best he could be. Proud coach.
The state tournament is always full of heart ache as not everybody can come away with the goals and dreams they set out for. We always talk about doing everything in your power to be your best. If you do that, there won't be any regrets. I hope they remember those words in these times.
Great to see STMA, Stillwater, Kasson-Mantorville, and Simley in the Team State finals. We are fortunate that these coaches support us in training their athletes in the offseason.
Congrats to all the coaches that had athletes competing in the High School State Tournament. High School coaches put in a ton of work on and off the mat. We appreciate the chance to work with your wrestlers.
One of the reasons we have been successful as a club is that we care about our athletes. We try to make them better wrestlers and try to teach them lessons that will be with them their whole life.
Your wrestler isn't just a number to us, but numbers are fun and interesting to compare to previous years. Below are some numbers for you and all the results of PINnacle wrestlers who trained with us from April of 2021-March of 2022. Numbers include MN/WI/IA
