PINnacle wrestlers have success at VAC Duals

Go to our Facebook page for pictures.

PINnacle Wrestling school headed out to Virginia Beach, VA to compete in the toughest youth dual meet competition in the country, the Virginia Holiday Duals. There were 48 teams from all over the United States, many were the best from there respective states, and the others were teams from that had guys from around the country. PINnacle was one of a select few Club teams.  The boys all competed hard, and won some great matches!

PINnacle wrestlers were seeded 2nd in there pool(12 pools of 4), but came out on top by beating the defending Gold pool Silver Medalist Minions team(2nd in Silver pool), along with the national Terps Contender(3rd in Bronze) team, and Team Delaware(2nd Copper).  After winning the pool PINnacle was put in the Gold pool against the 11 best teams in the country.  Our 2nd best match of the tournament was the win against Oklahoma in the first round of the Gold pool.  After starting off 4-0, we took some lumps. We did have another big win over regional rival Legends of Gold.  We ended up taking 8th overall out of 48 teams.  More importantly, there were many things the coaches learned about our wrestlers as we got to coach 160 matches!

The kids had a great time at the ocean, including going swimming in December on the last day, with Dolphins 30 yards from us playing in the ocean themselves.

Individual Highlights:

Kole Marko,85lbs, 9-1, great underhooks, kneepulls, and submarine finishes. Was aggressive to score first and continue to score points in his best matches.
Bennett Berge 95lbs, 9-1, Great 2on1, confidence, and went for the pin when the team needed it!
Hunter(Tommy Boy) Lyden 140lbs, Undefeated against guys within 20 lbs of him.  Had some great offense, but ran into some huge guys wrestling hwt. He did show his true hwt self with his gas and bathroom issues, and keeping his room at 60 degrees.
Parker Janssen, 68lbs, 7-3 after starting out 2-2. Parker took a more aggressive approach of concentration on scoring points the last 6 matches and it worked out.
Brandon(Bruuuuce)Lee was awesome! Fast, aggressive, and great technique. He had a great first 2 days!
Zyan Hall, 90lbs, 7-3, this was his first national level tournament. Wrestled very aggressive and scored a ton of points with his offense on his feet and on top!  I think he learned how to turn people as the tournament went on.
